I wanted to change the look of the headlights on my R6 so after doing a good amount of research I decided to get the BKMOTO kit with 2 Halos, Eye, and HID. The options I chose were, white outer halo, red inner halo, red eye and an HID kit. This mod will take up a weekend at least and requires a working knowledge of electrical wiring. However having said that this was well worth the time and effort put in and it looks amazing.

Step 1: Tear Down

The first thing to do is to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. Then remove the fairings from both sides and put them somewhere safe. This should be fairly easy and only takes minutes if you have done it before and know your way around your bike. Next remove the front windshield, mirrors and fairing, its all very straight forward to remove and as long as you keep track of your parts it will be easy to put back. After doing all that you should be able to remove the headlight housing without anything in your way. Once removed use a heat gun to separate the headlight housing into two halves as shown.

Step 2: Prepare and Assemble the Housing

The headlight reflectors need to be modified using a dremel this varies depending on your bike, detailed instructions are given with the kit. After making the modifications I decided to spray the reflector matte black, rather than leave it chrome. Its important to use a good high temperature spray paint and scuff the surface up to help with adhesion. Take your time building lite coats of paint up and allow the paint to fully cure before continuing. While you wait you can assemble the inner housing which consists of a chrome ring that everything will get glued to. I used electrical tape to hold the halos and eye while I glued them with the provided glue. Use gloves to prevent fingerprints and smudges on your inner housings. Once everything is glued then test the halos and mount them to the reflector housing using the hardware. Then use a heat gun to reheat the edges of the headlight housing and press it together sealing it.

Step 3: Wiring

The wiring is really simple just making solder connections and routing the wires cleanly takes time, Ive included a custom wiring diagram showing my setup. I added 3 switches to turn on different parts of the headlight independently. I decided to install the switches on the small panel near the front so they are somewhat hidden, yet easily accessible. This bike has been wired so it can run will all the lights off, however to turn on the headlights all you have to do is flip the high beam switch on the handle bar. To turn on the High beams or different parts of the headlight the 3 switches are used.
