Introduction: Zombie Gingerbread Ornament

What Christmas tree would be complete without a few of these delicious undead delights hanging from its boughs? This tutorial will take you step by step through the process of making your own gingerdead men ornaments.

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

You will need:

  • One pack of Brown Crayola Model Magic
  • A rolling pin
  • A gingerbread man cookie cutter
  • A straw
  • A knife
  • Wax paper

Step 2: Make Your Gingerbread Men

Roll out the Model Magic onto the wax paper with the rolling pin. Roll it out to your desired thickness. Use your cookie cutter to make as many gingerbread men as you can. I can get between 7 and 8 gingerbread men with my cookie cutter.

Step 3: Bring Out Your Undead

Using your knife, trim away the parts of your gingerbread man to reveal gnawed bones or bite marks. Next, use the straw to poke a hole in the gingerdead man's head. This is so you can hang the ornament when you are finished. The Model Magic takes a couple of days to dry thoroughly, but you can start decorating your zombies after letting them sit overnight.

Step 4: Decorate!

Using the paint of your choice (I chose fabric paints for their 3D quality) decorate your zombie gingerbread. Feel free to use as much blood as you like. I used actual candy eyes for my zombies, but you can use paint or buttons or anything you like! But whatever you do, don't forget the gumdrop buttons! Leave the paint and glitter to dry overnight.

Step 5: Gather Your Zombie Hoard

Once you have enough gingerdead men to menace a small town, it's time for bows! Pick the color ribbon that works for you (red is always good). Cut lengths long enough to thread through the hole and tie in a small bow. Hang your creation on the tree and TA-DA, the apocalypse has begun! The gingerdead men also look nice decorating gifts, hanging off the mantle or visiting the manger.
