Some time back I saw an instructable for a Zombie preparedness kit https://www.instructables.com/id/Zombie-Preparedness-Kit/ I showed it to my daughter in law who's best friend is really into the whole zombie thing, she is also the most exuberant actor in our Haunted House https://www.instructables.com/id/2011-Haunted-House-with-help-from-instructables-po/ For her birthday my son and his father in law got together and built this awesome shadowbox.

Let me apologize in advance for the lack of pictures, not everyone is in an "instructable" frame of mind 24/7

Step 1:

This 30x10x8" box is made of 1/2" pine plywood with a plexiglass front. Sorry I don't have more picss of the build. The first step is to collect your display materials and lay them out until you find a combination you like and build a basic box to fit or you could buy a shadowbox and fit your display inside it. This box has a dado cut towards the front for the plexiglass panel to slide in. Wooden dowels were inserted in hole drilled in the back to support some of the "weapons"

In some of the pics you can see Steves portable workshop, a master carpenter he's converted a large landscapers trailer with a multitude of shop tools including a bandsaw, a tablesaw, sander, jigsaw, compressor and much more.

Step 2: Paint

pretty self explanatory, paint the box in the colors you want. This box was puttied, sanded, primed, sanded and primed again then 2 coats of black for the outside and red for the inside

Step 3: Weapons

In this case the shotgun is a modified toy, the handgun is a compressed air bb pistol, the kbar is a real knife as is the tri-blade and the throwing stars, the grenade is real but defused and no powder, even the shotgun shells have had their gunpowder removed. The small caliber ammo is for a toy but has been painted with brass and copper paint. the majority of the pieces are attached to the box with epoxy

Step 4: Other

The zombie guide book is from the internet, the box of shotgun shells has been modified to read zombie loads, attached to the side of the box is a real hammer to "break" the "glass"

Step 5: Finish

The woman this was made for absolutely loved it, I don't blame her, I'm not that into zombies and I want 1 ! We have had several requests for one but need to figure out how to replace some of our one of a kind items with easily obtainable ones or the cost would be prohibitive
