Overview

If you are between the ages of 13 and 18 and think you can design the next amazing product, this contest is for you! To enter, simply reimagine an existing product or design a new one that can take the world by storm. Use the Autodesk® 123D® Design app to model your innovation, then show off your skills by creating an Instructables® project and posting it here.

Here's how to enter. Please read the Official Rules for more information.

1) Get the App for Free
To get the Autodesk 123D Design app, click here.  You can try the app online, get it for your iPad tablet, or download to your Mac or PC computer.

2) Create Your Idea
Use the Autodesk 123D app to model your product.  Remember that you can use a product that exists today as your inspiration, but you should not copy it in a manner that infringes another party's intellectual property rights.

3) Post an Instructable
Create a step-by-step Instructable that explains how you made your product.  Be sure to include screen shots from the app and tell us what cool features you used!  Start your Instructable here.

You must meet the age requirements set forth in the Official Rules to participate in this contest, and if you are under the legal age of majority in your place of residence (i.e., a minor), you may only participate with your parent or legal guardian’s consent and supervision. 

* Free Autodesk apps are subject to acceptance of and compliance with the terms and conditions of the license agreement or terms of service that accompany the app.

Multiple entries are accepted, but each entrant can only win one prize. Contest is open to entries from US, Canada [excluding Quebec], UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, India, New Zealand, and Denmark. The Contest begins at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PT), August 12, 2013. Contest closes for entries at 11:59pm PT, October 21, 2013.

The winner(s) will be solely responsible for complying with any and all applicable statutes, laws (including, without limitation, common law, if applicable), rules and regulations and for bearing any personal income tax, VAT, withholding taxes, customs duties, or other taxes, fees, insurance, surcharges or other costs relating to receiving, claiming or collecting any prize.

How It Works

Write an Instructable

Create a new Instructable that fits the guidelines outlined in the contest description above. To be eligible, Instructables must be published between Aug 12, 2013 and Oct 21, 2013 (11:59pm PT).

Enter

Upon publishing your Instructable you'll see checkboxes for open contests. Select Autodesk 123D Design Challenge. If you have entries currently eligible for entry, it will also show up by clicking "Enter this Contest" on the right side of this page.

Accepting

Entries are accepted by Instructables staff within one business day Monday - Friday. What matters is the submission time, not acceptance time.

Judging

A panel of judges made up of Instructables staff and respected members of the community rate the finalists. The averages of the ratings determine the winners.

When the winners are decided they will be notified and announced here on the contest page.
