Computer numerical control, or CNC, has been around since the 70s, but recent developments in small-scale CNC have made it possible for many more people to gain access to a machine. In the CNC Challenge, we’re looking for all things CNC: whether you’re using one as a tool to help build your project, or you’ve constructed your own CNC machine. The winner of this challenge will take home a brand new, assembled Printrbot Simple Metal 3D printer, along with a gorgeous custom award, made by the CNC King himself!
Speaking of the CNC King, Jon Cantin — he will be helping judge this contest. Known as the one-man IKEA, Jon has designed over 300 CNC laser, 3D printer and router projects which he sells on CNCKing.com. He is completely self-taught and has published 4 books on the topic with his 5th due out in a few months. His shop CNCROi.com offers a host of custom CNC services which are produced using his Trotec Speedy 400 flexx (110/30) and a ShopBot Desktop among a few other toys.
We can't wait to CNC what you make!
