Intro: Decorative Tunnel-home for Fish in Your Aquarium

I wanted my fish to have fun.. so i decided to brighten up the tank environment with some beads my mom gave me a while back. The fish can now sleep in it.. swim through it.. and spend a lot of time digging arround it for grub :)

STEP 1: Requirements

- an aquarium.. mine is a 12"x24"x15" tank (70litre/18galon) with small fish, so i used a 2litre coke bottle for this.. if your tank is smaller , use a smaller bottle(350ml or whatever).

- a plastic coke bottle

- a pair of scissors

- Glue ..i used Araldite, you can use anything that will stick the beads to the plastic bottle, but will not dissolve and contaminate your tank.

STEP 2: Cut the Bottle

- cut off the top and bottom of the bottle

- cut off a chunk from the center(see diagrams)

STEP 3: Glue the Beads On

i strung the beads and then wrapped them arround the plastic i had applied glue on..
you can glue them induvidually if you like.
and your done..
place it in your aquarium such that the fish have multiple entry and exit points :D

Caution on all those shells. Shells raise the PH (good for some fish like Cichlids) While your goldfish can handle up to low 7.0's check it regularly and if it is high maybe consider some different deco's. However the tube is great!
yes i learnt about that about a month later and removed them.
Didn't know they were good for cichlids though.. anyway they were a pain to clean, and gathered too much dirt, so not worth the trouble.

thanks for the heads up anyway. will add a note in the instructable
i know i don't have any plants right now :( planning to get a whole bunch and add some "aquascaping" today.. :P
Dont add too much at once, you'll end up killing it all off. I like the tunnel, looks great!
don't worry, in my experience goldfish just eat up the plants .. so have just put a couple of artificial ones... its unlikely that i'l ever successfully have an actual aquascaped tank with these fish :) will do that with some other tank.. with guppies or other fish
