Introduction: Filterized Dog Water Bowl
welcome! this may be dumb but this is my first invention. i was 10 yrs old old when i made this, now im 11. also it is missing a bubble stone but i could not go to walmart with my mom :(
Step 1: Materials
this is what you need:
1. fish tank air pump
2. glass of water
3.styrophone bowl
4. 5 inch tube (ice maker tubing)
5.a pen.

make a incision in the bowl with the pen.

feed tubing through hole

connect the tube to fish pump.

attach bubble stone i don't have a pic so i can't show you <:-(
Step 7: Step7
add water!
Step 8: FINISHED
present your gift to your pet cat,dog,hamster,or parakeet.

Actually, I think you are on the right track for a filter. If you have a fish tank air pump, you must have a fish tank. Now, remembering that you pump air down to the tank filter in order to pump water up through the filter . . . You will need: 2 bowls (plastic) that will fit (stacked) in your water bowl; 1 2-3 inch piece of 1/2" pvc pipe; some kind of filter material (3M nylon scrubbing pad maybe); and your pump and air tubing. Cut the bottom bowl down to about 1 to 1-1/2" high. You want water from the water bowl to come up over the top, down through the filter, and up the pipe to the top bowl. Drill holes at or near one end of the pvc pipe (1 must fit your air tubing, the rest don't matter, they just let in water. Fasten that end to the inside of the bottom bowl. Fix the air tube in its hole at the bottom of the pipe. Fill the bottom bowl around the pipe with filter material. Cut/drill a hole through the bottom of the top bowl and fasten it (upright) to the top of the pipe. Place it all in the dog's water bowl, and fill the bowl with water. Hook the air tube to the pump and turn it on. The air coming up through the pipe should carry water along with it up to the top bowl, where it should spill over the side. (You want to be sure it is smaller in diameter than the main water bowl, or your mother will be most upset with you, and you can forger EVER going along to Wal-Mart) I want to thank you for prodding me along these lines. I have been trying to think of a way to get filtered water to my dogs without putting live wires in their dog bowl for a fountain pump. It's not what we don't know, but what we know that isn't so that gets us in the end. JLMowery

Good work, OK the detail may be slightly wrong BUT It is a great idea to keep water tasting fresher for dogs or even cats even if not exactly filtered. Just change the name then the downers to good ideas will have to shut up!!!

bubbling the water does not filter it, but i can see that the dog might like moving water better because it would not go stale as quickly. If you wanted to filter it you would have to make the pump pull water out of the bowl through a filter and back into the bowl.

hello all you are doing is adding oxygen to the water it does not get filtered in any way so it is really pointless

Only if your dog/s are kept out side on the loose....Which here its against the law!! Mine are inside dogs (2) and cats (16) and they all love filtered water...lol

yea, because it's not like they try to clean themselves or anything... and there can be much more harmful chemicals in water, than on their body... And keep up the good work "get to da parakeet" don't be discouraged by others!

Correction = it is adding air not just oxygen. so what was your point ? he is 10 and tried but you failed to add to this.

good instructable. its well written, but why does a dog want bubbles in his water? my dog likes to drink flowing water rather than stale old water thats been sitting. is it to simulate that or something?

Don't be discouraged by the "less than constructive" criticism of others. All of the great inventors of our times had critics to contend with. For only being age 10, great job! Keep up the great work and keep inventing.
