Ever had a hot, steaming cup of Oobleckh? Geez, I hope not. The stuff is nasty! But it does exhibit some interesting properties...
1.2 tablespoon cornstarch
2. 4 drop of your favourite food colour(optional)
3. add 2 tablespoon of water AND MIX WELL
Slowly dip your finger into the gooey mixture. Feels liquidy? Grab some in your hand and pour it back into the bowl. Now, try slapping it hard with your hand or a heavy spoon. What happens? Why?
The molecules (one of the basic units of matter. It is the smallest particle into which a substance can be divided and still have the chemical identity of the original substance. in ooblekh are very large compared to, for instance, molecules of water. When slapped quickly, they tangle themselves up preventing any splattering. In this way the mixture behaves more like a solid. When you slowly poke your finger into the mixture it easily slides right through. In this way the mixture behaves more like a liquid.

The name "oobleck" is from a Dr. Suess book, I forget the name, but he had his wizards invent it because he got sick of the normal weather in his kingdom. Just a fun fact for you there : )

Make it by the bucket full! A great experiment for younger kids. Have them stand in the bucked, filled 3-4 inches with the goo.(barefoot of course). after they sink to the bottom, have them step out of the goo. now, have them JUMP back in, and keep jumping up and down. Let'm stomp as hard as they want. It's great fun. For those in California, with WAYyyy too much money, and Ashton Kutcher's cell number, Make a whole swimming pool full of the stuff. Take a nice brisk WALK across the pool, and then watch your friends sink to their wastes, and get stuck(now is a good time to rescue them. much like quicksand, and jello, once you're under, that's about it for this life!)

Although you would probably never sink into it because oobleck's density is much greater than our own.
