Introduction: Halloween Eyeball Wreath

This eyeball wreath is super easy to make and perfect for Halloween!

It's also pretty low cost - all you need is some ping ping balls, googly eyes and some sort of fabric to wrap around a wreath form.

Step 1: Tools + Materials:

  • a wreath form (I'm using an 18 inch one)
  • assorted sizes of googly eyes
  • ping pong balls
  • 10 yards wide burlap ribbon or other stiff fabric for wrapping the wreath form
  • a glue gun + glue stick
  • thread to match the fabric (optional)

I bought the googly eyes and ping pong balls in bulk on Amazon, so I need to figure out what all in my house needs eyes. ;)

The thread is optional but can help you secure the end of the burlap if you don't want to use the glue gun for that. I ended up just glue gunning the whole thing.

10 yards of burlap ribbon (5 inches wide) will pretty much perfectly fit a 18 inch wreath.

Step 2: Wrap the Wreath

At this point I regretted choosing burlap. MY HATRED FOR BURLAP KNOWS NO BOUNDS

Though I am happy to report I got it together and finished wrapping the wreath. ;)

I alternated wrapping the burlap around the top and bottom rung of the wreath form so they ended up completely covered. Just completely winged it. I recommend going the winging it route or attempting to watch some YouTube videos over it!

Once it's wrapped, cut off the excess and sew or glue the end down.

Step 3: Make the Eyeballs

If you aren't concerned with durability it's fine to just peel the backs off the googly eyes and just stick them straight onto the ping pong balls.

Since I'm putting my outside in possible snow/rain/crazy wind, I pulled the paper backing off the googly eyes and then glued them onto the ping pong balls using the glue gun. (You will punch a small hole in the googly eyes from the heat of the glue, so be careful!)

For an 18 inch wreath, I glued 58 googly eyes to ping pong balls.

Step 4: Attach the Eyeballs to the Wreath

I originally planned to sew these on because ping pong balls are so easy to puncture with a needle, but decided to keep on trucking with the glue gun.

I still can't decide if it's easier to apply the glue to the ping pong ball or the burlap, so try both and see what you like. Keep in mind the ping pong balls will probably deflate and get a bit misshapen from the heat of the glue, so go easy when holding them down while the glue cools. :)

Crowd them or space them out as much as you like! Get artistic. Get weird!

Step 5: Hang and Enjoy!

I used an adhesive hook to hang it on the front door so it's easy to remove. :)
