Introduction: How to Install a Kill Switch Into a Les Paul Correctly (no Drilling)

ok im gonna show you how to install a kill switch in a les paul correctly,
email me if you have any questions or problems(ovdirtbiker@sbcglobal.net)

Step 1: What You Need...

a guitar
electrical solder
solder gun
screw driver
N.O. momentary switch (soft touch)
needle nose priers
some speaker wire(not to thin)

Step 2: Let's Get Started...

ok, open up the back of the guitar so it shows all of the electrical,
(as you can see i have already done ever thing)

Step 3: Soldering Kill Switch....

ok, now that you have open up your guitar, now you can solder get your kill switch
(momentary switch). get the two speaker wires and solder both to the little sticks on the bottom of
the killswitch(make sure they do not touch each other) (this will make it not work) i would
recommend putting electrical tape around each of the sticks after soldering the wires to
the sticks. then take out one of the tones on the guitar no need to disconnect it just take
it out of the hole and put it in the inside of the guitar make sure it's on ten when leaving
it in their. now take the kill switch and sand the plastic threads like i did so it will fit snug in to
the hole. don't sand it to much just make it so it will fit.

Step 4: Soldering Other Side...

so now that you have soldered the kill switch to the wires, now it's time to solder
the other side of the wires to the output jack. take out the output jack so you can see it
completely. then take the wire and the kill switch and slide it down the hole where
the tone was, so it reaches to the out put jack. then solder one of them to the ground
which the white wire goes too. then solder the other wire that's connected to the
killswitch, to the hot which is where the blue wire goes to (as you can see i colored one
of the wires orange so i can remember that goes to the hot)

Step 5: Putting Things Back Together...

ok, so now that you have soldered everything and the kill switch is in the hole
and the tone is still connected to everything and it's just floating in the inside of the guitar
so you can switch it out if you want to.(make sure it's on full) now you can put the
back on and it should look like this.:D

switch,
