Intro: I-sweater

When I get ready to go back to school in the Northeast I pack my shorts and bathing suit and get out my tights and sweaters. I thought that it might be a nice idea to have a sweater for my tablet so it wouldn't get steamie walking back and forth to school. It is really quick and easy. and also there is enough room to carry your charger inside the i-sweater!
All you need are basic knitting skills.

STEP 1: Supplies

You will need yarn I like to blend two strands of yarn a bulky and a thinner type. Knitting needles and a darning needle are also needed. A pair of scissors is helpful and if you want to use buttons find 3 that you like.

STEP 2: #15 Knitting Needles

I work with #15 needles because it gives the sweater a nice weight with the yarns that I use.

STEP 3: Cast On

Holding your two strands of yarn together, cast on 25 stitches

STEP 4: Knit Knit Knit

knit every row until your piece measures 2 feet. (this pattern can be adjusted to fit a reader as well, cast on 18 stitches and knit to 18 inches)

STEP 5:

STEP 6: Cast Off

Cast off your stitches by knitting 2 stitches together and then slipping the stitch back on the needle until all stitches are free.

STEP 7: Ending

when you have cast off the last stitch pull the yarn through about 2 feet so you can use it to sew the sides. then cut it off and make a knot

STEP 8: Snip

snip off the thinner yarn, tie a knot and thread your darning needle with the bulky yarn.

STEP 9:

STEP 10: Create Your Sweater

Fold over an approx. 9"  flap to create make an envelope to slip your tablet into. ( for a reader adjust accordingly)

STEP 11: Sew Sew Sew

using the threaded darning needle sew both sides of the sweater.

STEP 12: Buttons

Choose two or three buttons to sew onto the closure flap of the sweater.

STEP 13: Button Holes

Sew the buttons on using a regular needle and sewing thread. There should be enough "give" in the knitted work to act as a button hole.

STEP 14: Done

The i-Sweater is finished

STEP 15: Good to Go

Bundle up your gadget and go to school!

Maybe John could keep his tablet safe when he's out sailing!!!
Yes indeed....He would need waterproff yarn or perhaps knit duck feathers into the sweater!
If I had a tablet I'd want this for sure!!!
Remember you can adapt it for a reader!
Thanks for your comment!!!
Cute Ipad sleeve, I like that you blended the yarns that gives it a really nice look.
Gorgeous! Love the colours you chose too! Good job! :)
Thanks....and it doesnt even take a full skein of yarn so you can use leftovers!
