Introduction: Ahoy Boat Bed

My youngest son wanted to sleep on the high seas. So we made for him this boat bedroom. The instructions below pertain only to the bed, and not the rest of the construction (desk and storage area).

Step 1: Step 1: Materials and Assembly

Materials: (all numbers in cm)

STEP1:

metal connections, wood screws

4 wooden piece (pine) 9.5 X 9.5 X 60

Top frame

2 wooden block piece 200 X 9.5 X 4.5

2 wooden block piece 100 X 9.5 X 4.5

Bottom frame

2 wooden piece 200 X 4.5 X 4.5

2 wooden piece 100 X 4.5 X 4.5

Ribs

8 piece board 56 X 2 X (top 10 bottom 4.5)

Bow

4 piece wooden block 90 X 4.5 X 4.5

Bottom:

1 piece wooden board10 X 40 X 2

Top:

1 piece wooden board 20 X 40 X2

Vertical

1 piece wooden board 10 X 54.5 X 2

keel

board 20 X 70 X 2

When constructing the bow start with the keel middle support and not with the sides.

Step 2: Step 2: Cover With Melamine

In order to support the bed slats screw on side blocks:

200 X 4.5 X 4.5 (2 piece)

then:

STEP 3
Dress with melamine 0.6 mm white color (20 cm ). Do not cut with saw but with strong cutter (I used tile cutter) Dress the bow with melamine.

ATTENTION: hidden wood piece 2 X 2 X 60 in the middle to add curve to the bow. Make sure that the melamine for the bow has the same breadth as each melamine piece for the main boat.

Advice: start with bottom of bow and as you go up measure with caution each piece for the exact length to fit to the keel (you can draw a line to show you where each piece should fit).

Step 3: Step 3: Finishing

Don’t forget to add the slats for the mattress before placing mattress (just joking).

Add rowlock well planed

Step 3:

Cover the bow with 2mm board. Attention: In order to take the exact shape place a big piece of paper on top and draw lines. Then use it as stencil to cut it. Don’t forget the opening for the keel. (if you want: Add metal hinges to the bow to create a secret locker)
