Steps to make this cute character from Sprout tv. chick from the Chica Show.

Step 1: Supplies

Large punch balloons (got mine at $1 store)
Duck tape
Newspaper
Flour and water ( equal parts for paper mâché paste)
Glue stick
Tissue papered, light & dark yellow , red
Tacky glue spray
String
Paint
Paintbrush

I only used one pack of tissue paper for each color. It pretty much depends how you cut your paper.

Step 2: Step 2

Tape balloons together. Smaller one on top of course for head. I just need one on each side.

Step 3: Step 3

Go to town with your paper mâché . Make sure your newspaper is in small strips . Makes it easier to dip , squeeze and apply.

Step 4: Step 4

Make at least 4 layers. Good for stability. Each layer before, I used a paintbrush to add the paper mâché mixture, then layer the next layer on dry. Made your hands less messy.

Then finally after the layers are dry , pop the balloon. Make sure to add string on top . Make sure it's sturdy. You can use it as a candy hole. After filling , add a sturdy piece of cardboard to the bottom of it.tape edges to body.

Step 5: Step 5

Add tissue paper around body. I started with tacky spray with the head and realized, it's hard to glue large pieces of tissue paper to a round surface. At least trying to make it smooth.

Solution. Paint the sculpture enough to cover the ugly newspaper. So much faster and easier.

Then per cut fringes, to save time. Then go to town gluing, with glue stick.
