Introduction: DIY-USB Steering Wheel AND Gas+Brake Pedals Only From Cardboard and DUCT Tape

We will be making our own steering kit for a few rupees in this instructable

Step 1: Aim and Need

As many of our parents might have refused us the lavish 18000 rupee steering kit, we definitely feel a greater need for it....for which this is the perfect project to pursue during vacations.....

Step 2: Requirements

Now that im from india, i kept about 250rs/- as a budget for my project
now you will need---

2 cardboard boxes (amazon/flipkart/snapdeal stuff) {1 cuboidal and 1 larger)(look at pic for appropriate info)

2 mice......Yes, 2 nos. of an 80 buck mouse is absolutely perfect

lots and lots of duct/ duck tape or brown tape (whatever you call it)

an elastic band(available from a boutique)

normal rope/wire

newspapers cardboards and the TOOL

some brain and some patience with a cup of coffee for the long night ahead

Step 3: Base

Take the cardboard boxes and prepare it as shown in the pic......place the sensor right under the elastic and the axle of the steering.....the basic principle is to use both the axis of an optical mouse as individual controllers...

for the pedals place the mouse in a sleeping direction and in a standing manner for the steering column..

Step 4: Look Carefully at the Pics

IN the pictures i have depicted the proper placement of stuff and the sensors

Step 5: Make the Steering

the steering can be made by folding paper and rolling it in duct tape..

this has been tested on windows xp, 7, 8 and 8.1 and it works perfectly fine without any extra drivers.....only need is ppjoy which is opensource and can be downloaded from the official site to configure the setup as a steering controller

tested on nfs mw and euro truck simulator2....
