Cheap Hand Held Swamp Cooler.

This is a fun summer project you can do. It will probably save you from the heat. You might already have these items or you can find them at your local grocery store near you.

Purpose:

Recycling and repurposing materials for comfortable accommodating
living. I wanted to make a quick cooler for my friends that work in hot offices that have no way of cooling off. Could be outdoors or working at a cash register it’s a simple project with tools you can find at the local markets. Stores like Wal-Mart, Lowe’s, and Walgreens.

Step 1: Step 1: Gather Your Materials.

Materials

List:

1. 2 X “Monster Drink” cans you can use “Arizona Green Tea” work as well.

2. 1 “O2 Cool Neck Fan”

3. 1 X “Gorilla Glue.”

4. “Coleman 12-in-1 Camp Scissors.” You just need some that can cut the aluminum cans.

5. Ice.

6. 1 inch Nail.

7. Can Opener.

8. Pencil or pen

Step 2: Step 2. Clean and Cut the Tops.

Empty the two monster cans. You can pour them or drink them. Or you may simply find some lying around the house. Now clean them so you may start working on them.

Cut both inside lid with the can opener it is a bit tricky *(CAUTION: Sharp Edges!) of the cans with the can opener.

Take it easy and turn slowly this is very delicate part of the stage working on this.

Step 3: Step 3. Cut the Can

Cut the can 1/3 the way down and trim up any edges so we get a nice looking lid. After you have removed the top half you may discard the bottom half. I would say you should recycle it.

Now we should have a nice lid and it is ready to be clued.

Cut a single slit in the can lid which will allow the lid o attach and detach with ease.

Step 4: Step 4. Glue the Fan to the Lid.

Test where the lid will be placed on the fan according the diagram. put a mark with a pen or pencil where the lid meets the fan and put a bead of glue on it. Don't use too much. Just use about 0.5 cm bead of glue around the edge. It will be enough and make a nice solid water proof seal that will also support the fan.

Note: it should look like this just don't overdo it or under do it.

Place the lid on the Bead of glue. Let it sit for 24 hours or overnight. This will allow it to harden and not fall off.

Step 5: Step 5. Poke Wholes in the Other Can.

Now take the second can and poke it with your nail between 1/3 and 2/3 the way down. This will provide airflow over the ice and the bottom to hold some of the cold water so it doesn't leak all over. 1/3 will hold the remaining ice water keeping it and the top 1/3 will hold the weight of the lid.

You don't have to be fancy just enough airflow.

Step 6: Step 6. Combine Both Halves Now.

Now all that is left is putting in your cooling source. You can put in ice and batteries into your new hand held swamp cooler.

Step 7: Step 7 ENJOY. STAY COOL MY FRIENDS. :D

How it works. is you put in ice and the air flows over it and out. Just for fun I attached a strip of tape with some flowy air thingy just for show. It lets me know when the batteries are dead.

It's nice when you have to stay at your desk as an office worker and the place has broke A/C unit or you can't escape your desk. It will provide some comfort for cheap and easy accessible materials.

I think that some people might like it for outdoors because of the extreme heat.
