Introduction: Flat Pack Alcohol Bottle Holding Ferris Wheel

I needed a way to hold the bottles we were pouring from off of the infinity mirror bar we built to people could peer in to it. Luckily, my local hackerspace has a large ShopBot CNC Mill and I know my way around a 3D modeling program or two.

Step 1: Load the Individual

This model was made using 1/8th inch ply, and custom built to fit Grolsh flip top bottles. You may wish yto adjust your model to bit your material and bottle size requirements. You will also need 1 1/8th inch thick wooden or metal dowel. I used an aluminum rod I found in the shop.

Load the patterns into whatever you use to generate g-code. You will need

  1. 2 wheel base sides
  2. 1 wheel base
  3. 2 wheel sides
  4. 12 cart sides
  5. 12 cart fronts
  6. 6 cart bottoms

Step 2: CNC Your Material

I used a very narrow diameter bit to get these small areas in high definition. Cut all pieces and sand any edges that need some love.

Step 3: Assemble!

Fit each cart bottom(slotted square) into a cart side (most ornate side), followed by the other cart side. Fit cart fronts in to finish the assembly of the 6 carts.

Fit the stand sides into the stand base.

Add wheel and cart axis bars to finish!
