Introduction: Guitar Hero(1-4)Rock Band Broken Whammy Bar How to Fix

This instructable will show you how to fix a whammy bar that isn't springing back.

The same method will work with guitar hero 1 ,2 ,3 ,4's guitars (it will possibly work for Rock Band's guitar)

you will need:
1. small philips screwdriver
2. small 6 wing screwdriver (I'm not exactly sure what they're called)
3. a spring made of 1 millimeter wire that is at least as tall as the guitar if it's to tall then you can cut it to the size of the guitar and a 1/2 of an inch in diameter.
4.a hot glue gun
5. a broken whammy bar :)

why the whammy bar isn't springing back.
Ether the tiny piece of plastic is broken off of the whammy pars rotating axes ,the anchor could have broken off ,or the spring its self broke. Makes the Guitar sound really cruddy doesn't it?

Step 1: What You Need

you will need:
1. small philips screwdriver
2. small 6 wing screwdriver (I'm not exactly sure what they're called)
3. a spring made of 1 millimeter wire that is at least as tall as the guitar if it's to tall then you can cut it to the size of the guitar and a 1/2 of an inch in diameter.
4. a hot glue gun
5. a broken whammy bar :)

Step 2: Disect the Guitar

time to see what's in this animal. Guitar Hero 1-3 ,and rock band's screws are on the back ;and Guitar hero 4's screws are under the face plate.

I don't have hg2's guitar

Nor do I have hg1's guitar

or rock band's Guitar.

those of you with of brand guitars I don't know if it will work but the odds are it will.

Step 3: Actual Fixing

get your spring and put a big doughnut of hot glue on the one side of the spring. having the glue hot enough to where it takes about a minute to coll will give you the most time to get it set right.

2nd part:
Ok lay out the other half of the Guitar in an accessable area because after you apply the glue your going to have to be able to get the Front piece on top of the back of the guitar before the glue cools. (the hotter it is the better the bond you will get)

Ok now to get started apply the glue on the edges of the spring don't worry about using so much the more the better... but don't use so much that it falls off. Now with the skills of the ninja deep inside of you put it on top of the back panel. After you get it connected to the back panel DO NOT TRY OUT THE WHAMMY BAR FOR 2 MINUTES.

Step 4: Put It Back Together.

hope you saved your screws... this will give the glue some cooling time.

Step 5: Test It Out

ok did you wait 2 hole minutes? ok good. just push the whammy bar up and down slowly at first then a little faster until you get as fast as you can do it just to make sure it works.

if it didn't work don't be discouraged the first time I did this with my gh3 Gibson it took me 3 trys to get ti to work.
