Introduction: How to Build a Wooden Stool

I would like to demonstrate how I build a wooden stool. I have done lots of woodworking projects in the past and have built this stool as one of them. I will show you the steps to accurately build this stool for yourself.

Supplies

A 1” thick by 8” wide board that is 5 feet long will be needed. Also needed will be a saw (electric or hand saw), a tool to put screws in, 1.5” wood screws, a tool to cut a design in the top.

Step 1: Cutting the Boards

The first thing that needs to be done is getting all the boards cut and ready to be conjoined together. The board for the top needs to be cut at sixteen inches long. The legs each need to be cut at twelve inches long with one end of each being cut at a 45-degree angle. The support piece needs to be cut at fourteen inches long with a 45-degree angle cut at both ends.

Step 2: Prepping for Screws

Now marking where the screws will go is important. On the top boards put a mark one inch in from the sides and two and a half inches in from the ends. There should be four marks on this board. Now on the legs make a mark one inch in from the sides and four inches up from the bottom. There should be two marks on each of the boards for the legs.

Step 3: Connecting the Boards

This step is where the boards will be screwed together. Put screws in the top piece into the end of the legs that are cut at a 45-degree angle. Then put the support piece between the legs where the screw marks are.

Step 4: Finishing Touches

The last step is finishing touches. You can take a saw and cut a hole or another design into the top piece for added looks. Also, designs could be cut into the legs too. These things can be done at your personal preference depending on what you like.
