How to Jump Start a Car

Hi, my name is Damon Disselkamp, today I’m going to show you how to jump start your car. Growing up on a farm I have had to jump start many different vehicles. It can be very helpful to know how to properly jump start a vehicle, especially when you’re in a situation that your own car won’t start.

Step 1:

Take one end of the red cable and hook up to the positive (+) terminal of the dead battery.

Step 2:

Hook the other end of the red cable up to the positive (+)terminal on the good battery.

Step 3:

Hook up the black cable to the negative (-) terminal of the good battery.

Step 4:

Hook up the other end of the black cable to the negative (-) terminal of the dead battery.

Step 5:

Start the vehicle that is doing the jumping and let sit for 2-3 minutes to charge the dead battery. Then start the vehicle that is getting jumped.
