Introduction: How to Make a Coin Sorter With Cardboard

We most of the time while counting or separating more number of coins coins we will confuse at count or some coins mix up with other coins , then we start counting again, which is a hard task.

In this Instructable I will show you how to make an coin sorting machine with cardboard by which you can separate coins by dropping into this box.

With some thick cardboard, a cutting knife, some hot glue, a ruler, and probably a bit of trial and error, you can create your own DIY coin sorting machine.The most important part - to measure needed coins and cut right holes . The key to the sorting“mechanism” is to cut the right size holes in the correct order—smallest to largest.

Step 1: Components and Tools Required

Cardboard of following sizes

27cm x 20cm - 1 [ for back portion ]

27cm x 5.5cm - 1 [ for top portion ]

27cm x 12cm - 2 [ for base and front top portions ]

12cm x 20cm - 2 [for sides]

12cm x 8cm - 2 [ for coins container separator at base]

25cm x 5cm - 1 [ for coins separator ]

25cm x 2.5cm - 1 [ for sides support for coin separator ]

27cm x 5cm - 1 [ for front bottom ]

Tools

Ruler

Cardboard cutter

Marker

Glue gun or tape [Banggood]

Step 2: Making the Coin Separator

I recommend you to watch video at last step before start building , so that you can easily understand the steps following.

  1. Take 25cm x 5cm cardboard and mark the coin perimeter by separated by frequent distance.
  2. Draw the lines over the markings such that top and bottom edges are cut by 2mm and 2mm away from sides as shown in the picture.
  3. Cut according to markings.
  4. Apply glue on sides of the cardboard and fix 25cm x 2.5cm cardboard pieces.

Step 3: Making of Body - Part 1

  1. Side pieces are cut from 20cm x 12cm cardboard.
  2. Attach the base of 27cm x 12cm with 27cm x 20cm back portion.
  3. Now attach the side pieces to base and back portion as shown in the picture.
  4. Fix base container separators of 12cm x 8cm to the base separated by some distance.

Step 4: Making of Body - Part 2

  1. Fix the coin separator slant such that the dropped coins must slide watch video below for more information.
  2. Fix the front top portion with 27cm x 12cm.
  3. Fix the front bottom portion with 27cm x 5cm .
  4. Make a cut in 27cm x 5.5cm for top portion such that the dropped coin must slide.
