Introduction: How to Make a Wireless Charger for DSLR/Camera

Everyone knows the struggle of using a wire for cellphones and people now are leaning towards using wireless charging. In this instructable, I will show you how to make camera wireless charger by using simple materials and tools. This charging device will also work on any smartphones or devices that has a micro usb port.

Step 1: Materials and Tools

Parts:

-Micro USB charging cable

-USB charger

-Basic wires

-Qi wireless receiver

-Qi wireless module

Tools:

-Soldering Iron

-Solder

-3D Printer

-Wire Cutter

Step 2: Soldering

1.Solder the basic wires on to the black Qi coils

2. Solder the Qi coil wires on to the circuit board

Step 3: 3D Printing

Now you can use any 3D printer to print a nice little enclosure for the wires and circuit board to stay in. I used tinkercad.com to create the blueprint. I have attached the file in this step and you can download this one to use or make your own.

Step 4: Testing

- Now you are almost done, all you have to do is to plug in the Qi wireless receiver into your micro usb device(camera) and test if it will charge.

-I have a Nikon D800 and it works perfectly. One thing I want to mention is the voltage limit for Qi wireless charging, because the original purpose of Qi wireless chargers were for smart phones so their maximum voltage output is not as high as camera's chargers and that might cause the camera to be charger really slowly depend on the battery you have.

Step 5: Finish

Now all you have to do is hot glue the circuit board into the inside of the charging box you just printed. Additionally, remember to plug the wireless charging circuit board into the wall using a micro usb charger and then place the camera on top of the box and you are done! You will see the green light lit up when it is charging and red light lit up when it is connected to a power supply.
