Introduction: How to Play Different Versions of Jenga

Jenga is a fun game of physical skill by stacking wooden blocks that were discovered in the 1970’s by Leslie Scott an author and game designer. She created the classic game with her family in Ghana. Mrs. Scott bought the game to the company Harrod’s in London and the game was launched in the U.S. in 1986.

Step 1: Classic Jenga

To play the classic version of Jenga, you will need a box of Jenga (54 blocks)

Step 2: Rules

Start assembling the blocks into a high tower by opposite rows of 3. Every row is in the opposite direction because when someone start pulling blocks off, the tower doesn’t fall down.

Step 3:

While building, try to make everything line up in a straight line down. It helps with the sturdiness of the tower. If you need help making it neater, use your hands to help you with lining it up.

Step 4:

After making your tower, you should have 16 rows of 3 blocks to begin the game with.

Step 5:

Now that the game is assembled, the goal of Jenga is to win by keep building the tower highest by using the blocks in the tower. The first rule is to find a loose piece and take it off its row without the tower toppling over.

Step 6:

The second rule is to take the block you just pulled off the tower and try to put it on the top of the tower to start a new row. Without the tower falling off.

Step 7:

Jenga continues with pulling blocks out of their original spots and placing them on the top to build new rows.

Step 8:

To win at Jenga, you have to be the person that doesn’t knock over the tower. The tower can be knocked over by hitting it by accident or when trying to pull off a block. When the tower is knocked over, the game is reset, and the loser must rebuild the tower for the next round!!

Step 9: Dice Jenga

Materials needed: 1-2 die and 54 blocks

Step 10: Rules

When playing Dice Jenga, you will use the same rules as classic Jenga. However, the only twist is that you play with die to determine how many blocks you need to pull on your turn. (I rolled a 7)

Step 11:

With the dice, the game becomes more exciting because no one knows how many they will have to pull.
