How to Make Tye-Dye T-shirts

Buy an plain white t-shirt

Step 1: Make Sure It's the Right Kind of T-shirt

The best kind of t-shirt is one that is 100% cotton

Step 2: Buy the Dye

You can buy Tie-Dye kits with everything you need. They are available at any local store.

Step 3: Tools Needed...

It's a good idea to make sure you have all the necessary supplies before hand.

What you will need:

1.Dye

2. Rubber Bands

3. T-Shirts

4.Gloves

5. Squeeze bottles

6. Rags

7. Paper Towels

Step 4: Soak the Shirt

The first thing is to soak the shirt in a tub of water, make sure the whole shirt gets wet.

Step 5: Mixing the Dye

Squeeze 4 table spoons of food coloring per quart of water

Add table salt- to the water to make the colors stand out more.

Step 6: Designs

There are many designs to choose from.

Step 7: Heat the Tub of Water

Heat the tub of water over medium heat, in till the water begins to boil.

Insert your clothing into the dye bath and submerge it completely. Stir the clothing in the dye bath for 20 minutes while it simmers.

Step 8: Final Step

Rinse out the dyed clothing in warm water until the water runs clear, then rinse it with cold water.

Step 9: Washing

When you are done making your shirt, make sure to wait 24- hours before washing.

Wash alone the 1st time so it want ruin your other clothes.
