Have you ever been to the beach to do some surf fishing? You cast out then set your pole into its holder. After getting your line set just right you turn around to wait for the bite. Only to find that the waves have made your line slack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sure you can go out and buy these weights but these days every penny counts right. I am going to show you a easy way to construct a spider weight that will work just as good as those you buy.
This is my first Instuctable so bare with me please and feel free to leave comments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Step 1: Simple List of What You Will Need
What you will need to make these is a pair of needle nose pliers , 2 large paper clips , 1 1oz. or larger egg weight. Thats it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Step 2: Step 1 the Paper Clips
Take your paper clips and straighten them out. Try to get them as straight as possible because its a tight fit in the weight.
Step 3: Step 3 Time to Fold
Take your now straight wire and find the middle of it grab here with needle nose then bend in half. Make sure when you bend that the length is the same from the bend to the end. Make the eye of the weight now buy widening out the bend.
Step 4: Step 4 Time to Thread the Egg
Take both of the wires and stick them in to one side of the weight. The hard part now is to get the wire through all the way to the eye you made. This is why the wire needs to be as straight as possible. You may have to pound on the wire some to get it through all the way.
Step 5: Step 5 Getting Bent
Now you can take the four wires sticking out and bend them close to the weight.
Step 6: Last Step
Take each wire and about 1/4 of the length from the end bend towards the weight just enough to make a barb. Then your done. Enjoy this cheap easy way to make a spider weight that will hold up against all those crashing waves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
