My "Mama's" Table

My mother passed away in 2005. I had her old picnic table out in my back yard for years now. It had ended up behind my barn and was a leaf collector. That table entered my mind often, so one day I drug it out of it's hiding place. The wood underneath was hard and perfect, but the wood on top had begun to rot, was somewhat soft and probably ugly to many people, but to me it was beautiful. After much struggling, I got the thing apart. I wish I had taken a picture of it but alas I did not. However, I  measured, marked, cut, nailed and screwed and made a few mistakes, but it's perfect to me. I used Dark Walnut Stain after much sanding and perfecting.

In the center of the table I glued down some pieces of old watches, on one end I glued(and beat down) some old keys, glass, even to one of the shells that was shot at my brother's funeral.

I know my Mama is looking down and enjoying it herself. I am including what images I do have. I hope you love it as much as I do.
