Introduction: Picture Frame From Old Keyboard

About: Retired Math teacher who needs a hobby! So I tinker with stuff: Arduino, welding, my 1958 TR-3 , my tennis serve

I took an  old beat-up computer keyboard and used it to crate a nice picture frame.

Step 1: Find Old Keyboard

I had this beat up keyboard but others can be found at garage sales, flea markets, thrift shops.

Step 2: Take It Apart

This one had 5 screws that had to be removed and then I cut the cable.  This left me with just the top and bottom plastic parts of the keyboard.   Also have a lot of keys and switches for other ideas to come later.

Step 3: Paint It

I used some black spray paint for plastic that I had but first I cleaned it pretty good as it was pretty dirty.

Step 4: Add a Backing

I cut a piece of cardboard to fit inside and hot glued it in place.

Step 5: Get Pictures .

I have boxes of old photos.  I thought some black and white ones would look good in the black frame.  I used double sided tape to hold in each picture in place and then just re attached the top of the keyboard .  I added a wire across the back to use for hanging the frame.

Step 6: Done!!

Now I have to find a place to hang it.
