This is how to make a Rainbow Shadow Frame. (Or at least that’s what I call it) This is one of my first instructables, please enjoy. :)

Supplies

Picture Frame
Acrylic or Spray Paint
Sharpies
Sandpaper
Pen
Paper
Hot glue may be needed if the fold down tabs don’t work to hold the glass in place when you are finished.

Step 1: Sanding the Frame

First take out the back of the frame so that the frame, glass, and back stand are all separate. Use the sandpaper to sand the frame smooth so that the paint will stick to it.

Step 2: Painting the Frame

After you sand the frame, make sure to dust it off so that there is no dust on it. Next either use a brush or spray paint to paint the front and inside lip of the frame. Think about all that you will be able to see through the glass when you put it back in because the back stand will not be covering it.

Step 3: The Design

Set the frame aside to dry. Take your paper (I used a napkin) and trace the edges of the glass onto it. Next, draw the design you want to put on the glass onto the paper. This is easier than drawing straight onto the glass because you can see what you are doing.

Step 4: Tracing

Put the paper under the glass and line up the edges of the traced glass. Next, trace your design with the sharpies. If you need to erase it works best to wet a q-tip and wipe whatever you want away. I used a geometric rainbow pattern, but you can do whatever design you want. I recommend doing light colors first then tracing with black over them rather than using black first.

Step 5: Finishing Up

After tracing your design, use a q-tip to clean up the edges if need be. After that feel free to seal it or just put the side of the glass you drew on facing the back when you put the glass back into the frame.

Step 6: Glass in Frame

When done with tracing and the frame is dry put the glass back into the frame, I suggest using hot glue to glue the outer edge of the glass to the inside lip of the frame. This makes sure that the glass will not fall out and also by not putting the back of the frame in it creates a shadow effect on the wall with what you drew. (You can use the lip on the back of the frame to hang it) After this, Viola! You have a rainbow Shadow Frame!
