All you need is your Makey Makey, a shoe box and some decorations of your choice!

Step 1: Step 1: the Code

Make your code! Use the Keyup object box to determine the numeric value of each switch (wire) that you are connecting, so that you can program a specific note to play when that switch is touched. You can color code your buttons to correspond to the colors of the wires used for each note.

In a separate space, make a code for two chords - C major and G7. These will be played as accompaniment for the melody. Make this code so that each button triggers multiple notes at the same time, thus making a chord.

Step 2: Step 2: Setting Up Makey Makey

After connecting your wires to the Makey Makey board, touch each wire individually while holding the ground wire. As you touch each wire, the numeric value will come up in the keyup box, as previously mentioned. After you know the corresponding value of each connection, insert that value into the "select" box connected to the note buttons. When you touch each connection, a specific note will play.

In our case, we needed the notes C, D, E, F, and G, and our two chords - C major and G7.

Step 3: Step 3: Decorate Box

Decorate your shoe box however you want but be sure to save room on the top surface. This space is needed to make holes for the wires later. Our song of choice was Row Row Row Your Boat, which is why we decorated the box the way we did.

Step 4: Step 4: Connect Makey Makey to Box

First, open the box and place the Makey Makey board with the wires already connected inside.

Next, insert the wires in order of the scale through the holes you poked through the top of the box. After the alligator clip is punched through, tape it down to the top of the box.

Once the wires are taped down, clip small folded pieces of tinfoil to the wires so that it is easier to play.

Step 5: Step 5: Perform

It's time to play! Now that you have your connections made and all of the notes you need in order, you can start to play your song. You can play whatever song you want, as long as you program the proper notes.
