Introduction: Steel and Wooden Gates

My son and I made this set of gates for a customer. We welded together the steel frames from 32, 50 and 12.7 mil steel square tubing. Then we had them hot dip electro galvanized. We cut the timber, American Ash , to size and using construction adhesive, fitted the timber to the steel. We then installed the gates at the customer's house.

The larger sliding gate would have been too heavy to move by vehicle with the timber installed, so this we did on site. The tricky bit was getting the gate to move again with the electric motor but after some adjustments to the gear track everything was moving fine.
