Introduction: Valentine Robot

In this activity, you will be creating a paper robot. You will need the following materials:

  1. A printout of the Valentine Robot Net
  2. Scissors
  3. Glue stick or scotch tape

Overall, you will follow these steps:

  1. Cutout the head, body and arms from the printout
  2. Fold the flaps at all dotted lines
  3. Glue or tape the head net together
  4. Glue or tape the body net together
  5. Place the head atop the body

Step 1: Cut Out the Head, Body and Arms From the Printout

Print the Valentine Robot printout on 8.5" x 11" paper. You can use regular paper or card stock if you want to make a stronger robot. Make sure to print the net in color so the heart gets printed in color.

Once it's printed, use scissors and cut out the head net, body net and arms from the printout. Only cut the bold black lines.

Step 2: Fold the Flaps at All Dotted Lines

Once you have the net cut out, fold all dotted lines to create the edges of the robot's body pyramid and head pyramid, as well as the flaps for the arms.

Step 3: Glue or Tape the Head Net Together

Glue or tape the flaps on the head net together to create a pyramidal head shape as shown in the image.

Step 4: Glue or Tape the Body Net Together

Glue or tape the flaps on the body net together to create a pyramidal body shape. Glue or tape the arms onto the body, one on each side as shown in the images.

Step 5: Place the Head Atop the Body

Place the head atop the body---your Valentine Robot is complete!
