Hi kcooley200! The base is 5 mm thick. Also, consider that these instructions, more that rigid schematics, are guidelines to inspire you to build your own project. Design is an iterative process, so during the execution, some original measurements had to be modified to achieve a better result. If you see that the motor is not fitting the base, then improve it.Where I was very careful to write specific measurements was in the tolerances between mobile parts. However, in the Step 18 I included some corrections in the measurements.Good luck with the project!

Thanks! I had that problem with my previous prototype (the one built from a broken 3D pen), and it got tangled a lot; so I improved the hook design to have the profile of an arrow head to catch again the rope.

Hi Paulo, how are you?This motor is for 3 to 6 VDC, as you say; but it can do it fine with 9 VDC. I have done several projects with this voltage and this kind of hobby motor, with no problems to this moment. Maybe the gears of the gearbox will wear down faster than usual.
