Another solution to achieve the same effect would be to use a laser/water cut stencil made from a small piece of non-galvanized sheet-metal or thin steel plate. Place stencil over object and use a small butane blowtorch to burn the image on to the object. Understandably, though, you're not burning the design "into" the material, but rather "onto" it.

Many of the safety concerns voiced could be minimized if the blade height is set to protrude no more than a 1/4 of a tooth above the material. Chance of tear-out is reduced as well.

Not with the TB66. The DRV8801 can drive a single motor 8-36V @ 1A continuous.

Hi, I just came across this after searching for a loft bed that would accomodate a twin-size mattress. This looks like it might work with no changes to the plans. Can the author or anyone who has made it let me know for sure?
