Dear wjcarpenter, I'm sorry but I'm not frying almost anything at home anymore. Otherwise, I would make some photos in order to encourage you to try it. It's really unbelievable that it works. Tip: put the lid to keep it hot but let a gap in order to permit the steam to flow. Another advantage: This method solves completely the problem when frying potatoes in batches with kids around the kitchen. As soon as the batches are ready, they disappear.
I use a simple way to do it: Peel the potatoes off, cut in Frenchies, dry them with paper towel, put in the pan, cover them with your preferred oil or fat "at room temperature", cover the pan with its lid and "put on fire". As I imagined, for my first time, you may think they will turn into a mass of potatoes. No way. It will take a time, enough to make the rest of your meal. I know this is difficult to believe at the first time but you can try with two or three potatoes. The main advantage is: you can fry all the potatoes on a single step. Fill the pan with potatoes to the top and take a look during the process.

Congratulations for this excellent and well documented project.
Muy bueno pero no puedo encontrar los archivos para bajar. Puede ser por algo de protección en mi "browser".
Great! I'd like to show another way.1- Put the can in a pressure cooker and add water to cover it;2- Bring it to high simmer until you have pressure and then, change to low.;3- Wait 35 minutes, turn it off and wait 10 minutes more;4- Release the remaining pressure, open the pressure cooker, and put the can in a big bowl of water to cool it down.Caution: Don't hurry, wait at least two hours (changing the water if necessary) to open the can or you will get a lava torrent in every direction, including you. Note that even the can seems to be cool, it's only the external layer.Note: You can adjust the colour and texture changing the "cooking time" from 25, 35, 40, 45 up to 50 minutes but keep the same 10 minutes of "wait time".Enjoy it with responsibility.
That´s a good idea but I'm a bit concerned about super glue to hold the motor support. I'd like to see epoxi, at least or wood glue with some screws.

Try to find small dolphins, attach some weight and test them with these fluids in an open jar in order to adjust their floatation in the intermediate zone of the both layers. It could be an improvement to this Instructable. Once more, congratulations. With some time, I will send you some photos of my little aquarium.
When in US with my wife and kids (2000), I bought a small aquarium made of acrylic, with two tiny dolphins. It is at home till today but it got some air which, I think, made some kind of dirt floating on the blue layer. Now, the grandsons are arriving and I´d like to fix it in order to keep them here at home. The main problem was: I did not have have any idea of the what were the liquid inside the box. Now, I know. Thank you very much for sharing this small gift.By the way, the dolphins have a small weight (1 and 2, each) which allow them to float stand at the surface and the other, a bit submerged.
