Made a very similar lamp many years ago using a candle to support the light string, I like the idea of using the self supporting led lights.
Nice lantern. I made something similar using mains lights some years ago. Wrapped them around a candle though, so you've the best of both worlds.

Not as far as I'm aware, I always replace my inner tubes after use as repairing a motorcycle one is not a good idea. It is only meant as a get you home dodge, and doesn't inflate the tyre to the full pressure, so you should add air as soon as possible. Running too far on a flat, or partially deflated tyre is what causes the damage.

It's made from cast iron, the name harks back to when it would have been a flat stone by the fire. Originally purchased in 1942 when my father was stationed in Wales during the war.

Thank you, sorry to hear about your bake stone. Have you tried looking on ebay for a replacement. Mind you it takes years to train one up properly!
Love these, been meaning to make some for ages. Here's a photo of the last lot I made, on a 70 year old planc, smuggled into England during the 2nd world war by my mother. Well my Dad was stationed in Pembroke Dock for a while.Try adding pudding spice and dried cranberries for that Christmassy flavour.
