Search engines are basically a document retrieval program. They use computer programs and software that follow links on the internet and catalog web pages. The programs analyse the various web pages to try and determine what the web pages are about. Once they establish what a particular web page content is all about, that specific page is indexed under a keyword, or set of keywords that relates to that pages meaning.
