Potentially Very Dangerous Vinegar and Baking Soda Rocket

a rocket design which uses the caps found on some powerade and lucozade bottles. or anything else with those valves that stop it from dripping.

just so that everyone is clear this hasnt been made yet but the idea is there and as soon as i get the supplies i will upload a video and tell you how it works.

this is the lazyman's vesion of the airpressure rocket, but much more fun.

by making this you agree that any damage to yourself or property is entirely your fault not mine.
i advise that only individuals who understand pressure and know how to use it sensibly undertake making this.

Step 1: Materials

for this you need few materials and some are optional, it just depends how reluctant you are to getting covered in baking soda and vinegar.

materials:
(1) pvc pipe large enough to fit either a 2ltr or 500ml bottle (optional) and reduction coupler that will fit onto this (see pic if unsure what a reduction coupler is)
(2) a thin tube that fits inside valve of lucozade lid
(3) 500ml or 2ltr bottle (dont have to be lucozade bottle but check the fir of the lid)
(4) 1 lucozade bottle lids (like the ones in the picture)
(5)plastic film cannister
(6) rubber bung (rubber cork) that fits inside the bottle neck
(7) baking soda and vinegar ( you can experiment with the amounts)

tools:
(1) exacto knife
(2) saw
(3) duct tape (can never go wrong)
(4) shoulder strap off of old bag (optional)
(5) hot glue

Step 2: Assembly

i find that when people try to describe this step they just confuse people. im going to let the pictures speak for themselves

this will be much clearer whenever i actually make this, i will take pics of each step

you will also have to make a hole in the rubber bung. the best way to do this is to, if you have a vertical drill, put the bung on the drill table and press down on it with a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the pipe that goes into the lucozade cap

Step 3: Loadign and Firing

to load this take your bottle of vinegar and put the barrel over top of it while holding the gun contraption up.( look at pic) this is a bit fiddle but try and get the bottle onto the cork

and always hold down when you dont want to fire

when ready to fore get baking soda in canister and push onto tube then tip the whole thing back and forwards until it is mixed. make sure you hold the photo canister on tight though because the pressure would cause it to fly off.

once enough pressure has built up the rocket will come off the bung and fly. you can make the pressure build up more to cause it to go farther by putting your hand on the bottle stopping it coming off the bung but you have to be very careful when doing this as if there is too much pressure it will blow up. i do not advise doing this though
