Oo neat. My kitty loves seafood. There's never enough seafood treats and or food for cats. Thanks for sharing.

btw instead of parsley can we use catnip or wheat grass?

Oh and about the oil thing, why not purchase tuna in oil already in a can?

I like the cat nip idea.
you can use other herbs... just try. When you use a can with oil you have to add extra flour; the dough will be to sticky...

I am going to have to try this on my cats. Are you using tuna in brine or oil?

I am curious as to why you added parsley, though?

Parsley is good for cats and cleans their teeth. Also gives them better breath. Especially, after tuna. Lol

Hi !

We tried your recipe but the balls were hard as stone (even the dog could not eat them). We used olive oil instead of the sunflower oil, is it because of that ?

Thanks xxx

Maybe they were over-mixed. Developing the gluten too much will lead to tough, not tender, baked goods. I don't think it was the substitution; I use olive oil all the time in bread doughs like this and it doesn't drastically change the texture.

@Madame_soleil : About how long do you mix the dough in this recipe, and what's the texture supposed to be like for the properly developed dough (smooth and satiny, or more shaggy/rough-looking like a drop biscuit)?

I have a fluffy Maine Coon mix who absolutely loves tuna, but she only gets it as a treat because of the fat content (perfectly fine for our bodies, but not so much for hers). I plan on making these for her as a Christmas present.

Maybe your oven is a little too high. Try on a lower setting.
I just mix them with a spoon by hand, not for to long.
They have to be soft; almost like bread... I never use olive oil; maybe that is the reason.
can i subtitute sunflower oil with palm oil or margarine/butter?
My cat liked them but my dogs liked them more LOL?
My cat liked them but I could tell my dogs liked them more LOL ?
