Introduction: Various Hand -carved Canes, Walking Sticks, and Staffs
curly willow, diamond willow, apple, pine-various woods
These are my first sticks I carved. Well, not all of them! I have a big heart, so my first 10 or so were given away as gifts to family and friends. I tend to believe that they in fact, were my best ones.

They're just gorgeous! I'm a cane-user, and get so tired of the ordinariness of commercially-made canes. How long do you cure the wood before actually making it into a cane?

it's six months later but maybe you'll get an e-mail notice or something, anyway, if you cut green blanks, seal the ends with either epoxy or parafin, (canning wax) and then lay the blanks down flat in a dry, well ventilated place. Don't worry about the conditions too much, as long as it doesn't freeze or stay too humid it's good enough. Come back in a year and start carving.
