I am no expert on it but I have been told that leaving the regulator in still consumes some current. wether it is worth taking out ofcourse is another decision. Nevertheless, great project
Yes, I did remove LEDs and did not connect to arduino via raw / voltage regulator (as far as I know using VCC pin of arduino bypass voltage reg.). I will look into Analog input suggestion bypassing YL-38. Thank you for advice.
It really looks great. I just have one advice. The moisture sensor will not last long due to corrosion. Consider replacing it by two 5 or 6 mm bolts
yes that helps too. It is what i do with all me resistive probes. and yes, definitely saves batteries. Removing the LED and the voltage regulator (you are using 3.7 Volt) could bring the sleep use down to 6uA.One more remark: you are using the A0 of the moisture module. As far as i know that module, the A0 is directly connected to the sensor. In other words: if you are using the analog read you do not need that module at all, can also just use the sensor on its own
You are right. Another solution would be to add transistor to YL-38 moisture module and some arduino pinout. Then switch on circuit only when micro-controller is awake thus almost eliminating electrolysis process on feet. (I am planning to make updated scheme). Then it should be possible to last for long time also with this low quality feet/fork sensor part. Adding transistor for powering up all external modules would also save battery a lot.
