Makey Makey Kit, Reed Switch, Magnets
Step 1: Connect a Reed Switch
After deciding what type of project you are going to create you can add a reed switch to the area where you are going to connect your alligator clips.

- Clip one lead of the reed switch to a key input on the Makey Makey.
- Clip one lead of the reed switch to earth on the Makey Makey.

Step 2: Choose What Type of Magnets to Use.
Magnets used in this demonstration:
- Neodymium magnets
- Ceramic Magnets
Tip: You can find rare earth magnets in old hard drives.
Step 3: Activating the Reed Switch
Test how far you can get the switch to react. Start from about 6 inches away from the reed switch and move it in closer until you get the Makey Makey to activate.
