Introduction: Skyfly23 10K Special: 3 Day Project: Halo 2 Sniper Rifle

About: i am an aspiring prop maker and keen sci-fi fan. i found this site a few years back and i did not know i'd ever love it this much! i'm mostly into Assassin's Creed cosply and Star Wars Cosplay.

it's coming up to summer guys, 6 weeks of pure nothing for some, so i'll be posting up cool little projects for you to do over summer if you get bored. ironic i say little because this sniper is HUGE.

Step 1: The Body and Bi-pod

you're gonna want to start by building a body for the sniper, from the tip to the barrel of the sniper, it's 187.5 Cm.

think of the body in proportion to that in proportion to the barrel. the body should 67.3 CM, leaving you exactly 120.2 CM for the barrel, divide 120.2 by 2, as there's two parts to this barrel.

60.1 for the cylindrical part of the barrel and another 60.1 for the actual barrel.

start by cutting out the body templates and making them 3d by making long strips of cardboard that are 6.3cm wide, as i've said in my Assault Rifle and Battle Rifle tutorials, cut them to shape as you go around it.

if you want to make a mag for the sniper, i suggest cutting a space where the mag will go, measure how wide it can be and how high it needs to be, build it around 6 strips of cardboard.

The bipod is mainly made up of two thick pieces of cardboard stuck to either side of the body. just fold up the bottoms of the strips to make the bi-pod's feet, it should stand but don't take my word for it, mine works 80% of the time 60% of the time.

Step 2: The Scope

The Scope is in two parts, a square piece for the digital screen and a tube for the actual scope (don't ask me how that logic works, that's like reflection of light energy into electrical energy for an actual image on the scope)

make two squares 8cm wide and 12.5cm long. now make 2 strips that are 12.5cm long and 3.3cm wide, fix them together with two stips attaching to one of the squares and a square to hold it together. for the scope piece, use a standard toilet roll tube and attach it to the front of the now 3d square. now attach that to your gun body.

Step 3: The Barrel

For the Cylindrical part of the barrel, use a long cardboard tube and attach it on top of the long end of the gun body.

for the barrel itself, you need a long, thin dowelling to run right through the gun bodyand seal it down at the rear end of the gun body. this will stop it from drooping.

for the front part bit, take a thin strip of cardboard and fold it around the end of the barrel, seal it down as it's likely not to stay there dependin on what density cardboard you have.

now attach that to the cardboard tube and seal it tightly.

for that second barrel thing, cut a hole in a square of cardboard and push a radiator cover tube through it, it should stay there once it's through.

Step 4: Duct Taping

now this is the last part, it's a subsitute for painting when you have nowhere to paint.

carefully lay on black duct tape where i have on mine and watch for creases, and do the same with the silver. creases make it lose it's effect.

for detailing, use reference pictures and create the details with more cardboard or a sharpie, if you ran out of cardboard.

and there you have it, your own Halo 2 Sniper Rifle
