Introduction: Air Powered Ballon Car STEM Activity for Kids

About: I'm Rashmi, and I'm enthusiastic about STEM-based learning. Currently, I have participated in numerous STEM activities.

In this step-by-step activity, participants will design and construct a simple car powered by the air released from a balloon. This hands-on project introduces basic concepts of motion, force, and aerodynamics while encouraging creativity and problem-solving skills.

This Balloon Car STEM activity not only provides an engaging and hands-on learning experience but also fosters teamwork, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of scientific concepts. Check the Complete process & detail - ALLEN IntelliBrain

Step 1: Create Base of Balloon Car

First, take the foam base and insert the axle holders into these slits, The base of the Balloon car is Now ready! This will serve as the base of the car.

Step 2: Assemble Wheels of the Car

Now, we have to assemble the Wheels of the car. Take 1 foam Washer Insert it into the Wheel, and do the same with the other 3 Wheels.

Step 3: Mount Wheels on Car Body

Now, we have to mount these Wheels on the Balloon Car Body.

First of all, Take 1 Axle. Pass it through one of the Wheels into the hole in the Foam Washer, then into the Axle Holder, and then mount the other wheel, in a similar way. The balloon car is now almost ready!

Step 4: Attach Nozzle Holder & Balloon

After this, insert this nozzle holder in the slit on the foam base. Let's keep this aside for a while and take the nozzle. Mount the balloon on the bigger end of the Nozzle, And attach this nozzle to this hole in the nozzle holder.

Note - We are inserting the smaller end of the nozzle into the hole from this side. Our balloon car is now ready!

Let's get this car moving now -

Step 5: Powering the Car

Now, Let's inflate the balloon using this nozzle, Hold the nozzle using your thumb so that, the air doesn't escape. Let's get this car moving,

Release your thumb to move the car.

Conclude - the activity with a recap of key learning points and insights. Highlight the importance of experimentation and iteration in the design process. Encourage students to think about real-world applications of the principles they've explored during the activity.

This Balloon Car STEM activity not only provides an engaging and hands-on learning experience but also fosters teamwork, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of scientific concepts.
