Alien Cube | 3D Printed

Introduction: Alien Cube | 3D Printed

About: I like to make things and I'm glad I can share it with you! I post the videos on YouTube - 3DSage

First of all, Thank you for checking out my tutorial! You are awesome.

Second, I put a lot of time into the YouTube video so watch it too, it explains it all.

Step 1: Materials

You will need:

1 meter long led strip: (1M USB LED strip Light 5050 RBG)

Pliers or sharp knife.

Download and 3D print the model:

Step 2: Light Tube

After 3D printing the 3 models, remove the sticky tape from the back of the led strip and start winding it around the tube. Keep each layer tight. Then use clear tape to secure it all and help hold it in place.

Step 3: Tube Inside Cube

Before inserting the tube, we first need to cut the small support holding up one of the corners. Once removed, the USB cable can be inserted and the tube can be placed inside the center.

Step 4: Diffuse the Light

It's ready to light up but first I recommend diffusing the light. Take the lid and trace it on regular white paper. Cut out that square so it fits inside the cube and tape it to the sides.

Step 5: Finished!

The USB can be inserted into an outlet adapter or directly into a laptop. The included remote controller works great after the clear plastic battery protector is removed. Set the cube to one of the displayed color buttons or set to flash or fade between all the colors. Pretty cool!

Feel free to check out my YouTube channel - 3DSage. I create lots of different and fun videos!

Thank you and see you next time!

It's really good to see this light!
But I guess it would be more interesting if the patterns would change!

This is a really fun design! What program did you use to design the Alien cube?

Thank you! I'm a 3D animator and I have experience working in 3Ds Max. I have learned to model 3D and export it for my printer. Thank you for the nice comment! :)
