Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients

First let's preheat the oven to 375F (190 C). Now in a large bowl let's mix together our flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and sugar. Use a whisk or a sifter.

Step 3: Heat Up Butter and Water

Now in a sauce pot let's add our water and butter. Then heat it up on the stove on Medium heat, until you see little bubbles. We don't need a rolling boil. Stir occasionally.

Step 4: Eggs and Sour Cream

Now in a small bowl mix together your eggs, sour cream and vanilla extract.

Step 5: Flour and Egg Mixture

Now let's slowly add our flour mixture to our hot liquid, stirring quickly. Once it is all combined we can add our egg mixture. The flour will cool down the mixture, so it doesn't cook the egg mixture. Stir in the egg mixture with a wooden spoon until well combined.

Step 6: Bake That Cake!

Now let's add our cake batter to a greased sheet pan. Bake it at 375 F (190 C) for 18 to 22 minutes. Use a tooth pick to check it. If it comes out clean it is done. Let the cake cool for about 20 minutes before putting the frosting on top.

Step 7: Let's Make Frosting

Now we will make our frosting. In a sauce pot, add your milk and butter. Again, wait till you see little bubbles then remove it from the heat. Again, stir occasionally.

Step 8: Finish the Frosting

Now let's add our pecans or walnuts. Then add in one cup of your powdered sugar, followed by your vanilla extract (or almond extract). Then mix in the rest of your powdered sugar one cup at a time until all combined. This frosting is delightful. :)

Step 9: Frost That Cake and Serve It Up!

Now we just frost the top of the cake. Then serve up a slice or two, or three. lol :) This cake is amazing.
