We live in Siberia, so we have spring on the calendar and in our hearts only :) In the street, the weather does not rejoice us always, therefore warm things are usual in our region. Perhaps, this scarf gives less heat than traditional, but it adds playfulness, lightness and spring mood. This is an extremely original and unusual thing that will suit both women of fashion who diligently select stylish clothes, and just lovers of unusual looking.

The scarf itself is very simple, even those who never had a crochet hook in their hands can make it. At the end, I will tell the trick, how you can simplify it even further, if there is no desire to bother, and you really like the scarf.

One of the advantages of this scarf is that even if you mix up something and crochet it in a wrong way, it will not be noticeable, that is, all the errors will hide behind the pompoms themselves :)

Step 1: Materials and Tools

To create this scarf you will need 3 coils of yarn, a crochet hook, scissors and strong threads for tying pompoms.

Yarn:
1. For pom-poms we took melange yarn 100 g - 280 m., 75% acrylic, 25% wool. On the picture you see a slightly different 2 skeins (one with a small addition of blue), but at the end we found in the store exactly the same as the first skein and took 2 identical skeins with a gray color.
2. One skein of milk yarn 100 g - 300 m., 100% wool. But this yarn took quite a bit, about 25 grams, that is, about a quarter, so if you have leftovers, you need not take a whole skein.

Crochet Hook. In this master class, crochet hook №5 was used, but generally the size of the hook depends on your yarn and on how much an openwork pattern you want (the higher the hook number, the more the holey and airy pattern turns out). We had another auxiliary crochet hook (№2,5), so it was convenient to thread through the pompoms themselves, but you can do without it, it's just handy.

Threads for bandaging pompoms. We took thick 1 mm, very strong waxed threads for working with the skin, but you can use any others, the main thing is that you can pull them, and they stand it. Well, if the threads are bright and contrast, then they will be clearly visible and they can be easily found inside the pompom.

Scissors. For this scarf, sharp scissors of a sufficiently large size are suitable, so that it would be convenient for them to straighten the yarn on the pompoms.

Step 2: Making Pompoms. Winding

In order to easily make a few pompoms at once, you will need ... a chair!

He needs to turn upside down and use his legs as a support. You can also use any other fixed structures suitable for our purposes. The edge of the thread must be wrapped around the legs of the chair and tied with a knot. The beginning is necessary :) And further simply you wind up necessary quantity of a yarn on legs of a chair. The diameter of the desired pompoms depends on the amount of yarn that needs to be wound (the larger the diameter, the more yarn is needed for the pompom to keep its shape in the future). We decided to make pompoms of two sizes: bigger and smaller, so the skein of yarn was divided into 60 g and 40 g respectively. If you do not have weights, do not worry, it's quite possible to determine by eye. In general, if you do not have a goal to save yarn, then you can use the entire skein for one set, it's too difficult to go too far, the pompoms will only keep the shape better.

After you have wound up the right amount of yarn, cut off the thread and tie it to any thread nearby so that it does not hang out and does not interfere.
Wind best not by tightening the thread, do not try to pull the string on the bow, otherwise it will be very difficult to tie pompoms.

Step 3: Making Pompoms. Binding

Now determine the approximate size of the pompoms you need, see how many of them fit in your winding and prepare the right amount of thread for fastening. Note that the outer threads on the sides should be as close as possible to the legs of the chair, because this distance will not be divided into 2 pompoms.

We decided to make 5 large balls with one winding, the approximate distance between the legs of the chair is 44 cm. The length of the attachment thread is 25-30 cm. In order to tie pom-poms, you will need maximum strength, ideally you can ask for a man, but if there is no one near, it's not terrible, you can do it :) Threads are best tied with a double knot in a few turns around the winding, this will fix and keep the yarn in the assembled state.

At the edges of the winding, the tension is greater and it's even harder to tie up, so it's best to skip the thread (so that the yarn does not mix) and remove from the legs of the chair, you can conveniently hang these threads and safely bandage the rest.

Step 4: Making Pompoms. Cutting

After you tied all the threads, carefully cut each gap between the threads with a pair of scissors approximately in the middle :)

Then strongly shake, holding the ends of the thread, and you get a pompom.

Step 5: Making Pompoms. Trimming

And then it's time to imagine and feel like a gardener;) Inspect your pompom from all sides and trim the sticking excess strings as if it were a round bush. Pompom is ready!

Step 6: Chose the Pompom's Size

In order to make smaller pompoms, you just need to make more pieces at the same distance. For example, at the same distance of 44 cm we made 7 pompoms, respectively, they turned out less.

With two skeins of yarn we got 24 balls (5 + 7 = 12 from each skein). For a scarf this is more than enough. In our scarf 21 pompoms, because 3 pieces I took a small son :)

Step 7: Crocheting. Fixing of Thread and Chain of Air Loops

Arrange the balls in the order you need. We take the first pompom, we stretch the thread with the crochet, which we will bind, through the fixing thread of the pompom, you have a loop. From it we tie an air chain for 10 loops. If you want an unequal distance between pompoms (as we do), then the number of loops will vary depending on your wishes. In our case, the number of loops varied from 10 to 18 in a completely random way, without tied to anything concrete.

Step 8: Crocheting. Connection With Next Pompom

After you have made the right amount of loops, you need to take the second pompom and hook the thread under its fastening thread (that's it at this moment we change the hook to a thinner one for convenience), pulling out the loop, thereby tightly tying the ball to the connecting chain.

Step 9: Crocheting. Сolumns With a Crochet

After that, having turned the knitting by 180 degrees, we begin to knit the second row. It will consist of columns with a crochet.

First, you need to tie 3 air loops (as in the previous row), then threading the thread on the hook, you pull it out of the loop of the bottom row, so you have 3 loops on the hook: work, cap and the one you just did. You make the first two new loops, you have 2 loops left on the hook - the very first work and the one you just did, then you knit these 2 again. The column with the crochet is made. Then again, thread the thread on the hook and pull out a new loop through the bottom row of air loops.

Step 10: Crocheting. the Second and Third Rows

By tying the row to the end, you stretch the thread once more under the fastening thread of the pompom, binding it even more firmly to the base of the scarf. Then again turn the knitting by 180 degrees and again knit first 3 air loops, and then a row of columns with wraps, like the previous one. After reaching the end of the row and the second pompom again pull the thread pulling the loop under the fastening thread of the pompom. After that, from this loop, loosen the air loop, then one more and make a chain of 13 loops (well, or how much you want). And we repeat this with all the pompoms.

Step 11: Crocheting Is Done!

The scarf is almost ready.

Step 12: Final Touches

Now you need to carefully trim the fixing threads on the pompoms so that they do not spoil the look. Crop should be next to the nodules, but not back to back, so as not to damage the nodes themselves.

Now shake the pompoms well, so that they take a round shape, see if there are any excess sticking threads out of the yarn during the work, if there are any irregularities, then gently trim the pompom in a circle, giving it the shape of a ball.

Step 13: All Done! and Small Trick)

Actually, the scarf is ready!

And now the promised trick of simplification:
if you do not want to mess with the hook, then take a large needle, insert yarn into it and just string pompoms like beads on a fishing line. Best of all, they will look, if there is no distance between them, like a necklace on the neck. Just make sure that the needle goes into the center of the pompom, it's important.
