Introduction: Aurora 90mm Brushless Micro Quadcopter Drone 1103 Motor 6a 4 in 1 Esc Tx-03 Aio Fpv Cam

This is a build log / guide on how to make a super quick and powerful quadcopter thats great for beginners.

Step 1: Purchase Needed Parts...

You can buy this from bangood as a prebuilt bind and fly(*BNF) HERE

*bind and fly means you just have to bind your controller and your ready to soar! But please note choose a version that matches your transmitter (controller), I used a flysky compatible for mine so if you use the same transmitter, choose a flysky reciever.

You will still need to buy FPV goggles with the prebuilt kit.

Step 2: Assemble the Frame...

Use the screws provided to tightly secure the motors to the frame with the cable pointing down the middle beam to the center square where our ESCs (electronic speed controller) will sit.

Step 3: Fit ESC to the Frame...

Screw inthe provided spacers to the center of the frame and secure with supplied nuts.

Please note...

Ive placed the esc the wrong way up in this picture it should be sticker facing downwards.

Step 4: Solder the Motors Onto the Escs...

There are 14 tabs on the ESC, 2 being presoldered power connection wires and the other 12 are for the 3 motor wires to be soldered to.

Please note there is no set direction for motors of this size so just solder 3 wires to the 3 corresponding tabs in any order and we will set motor spin direction later in the software we use to calibrate the ESC.

Step 5: Solder the Receiver Wires Onto the Flight Controller...

Just trim and solder the 3 wires and connect them to + - and ibus (i removed the ppm wire from the connector by lifting the tab and pulling it loose)to the correct places on the flight controller as shown in the picture.

Now just short the small pads for sbus (ibus and sbus are identical in this respect) and your done.

Step 6: Solder the Camera Power Cables Onto the Flight Controller...

The wire that is supplied on the tx-03 is jointed by a connector in the middle and a micro jst spade connector for a 1s battery at the other (which makes it a great cam to strap on anything with ease!) I cut off the spade connector and soldered the wire directly to 5v on the flight controller.

Step 7: Solder the ESC Power Connectors...

I trimmed and soldered the ESCs power connector up through the thru-hole on the pcb and the soldered the battery connectors to them and the pcb from above.

Step 8: Solder the JST Battery Connector to the Flight Controller...

Just solder the wires onto the esc cables and the thru hole that we soldered earlier ensuring correct polarity.

Step 9: Solder the ESC Signal Wires to the Flight Controller...

I removed the black and red bec cable from the esc connector that plugs into the esc then i cut off the connector on the other end so i was left with 4 cables and then i soldered them directly to the corresponding signal pads on the flight controller.

Step 10: Fit the Flight Controller...

Screw the flight controller to the standoffs that hold the ESCs down.

Step 11: Attach the Receiver to the Frame...

Another skinny tie wrap secures the receiver to the bottom plate (push it right back against the fc so it leaves the hole clear for the screw to secure the top deck.

Step 12: Bind the Receiver to the Transmitter...

How to bind the FS-A8S / iR-A8S...

  1. Press and Hold the bind button while plugging in the battery to your flight controller (the light will blink quickly to show its in bind mode
  2. Press and hold the bind button while you turn on your iRangeX iRX-i6X (or other flysky compatible transmitter) and it will enter bind mode
  3. The light on the receiver will stop blinking on be lit solid
  4. Press cancel or turn off your transmitter
  5. Remove the battery
  6. Done!

Step 13: Attach the Camera to the Frame...

I put my supplied sticky pad onto the flad side of the cam block and stuck my cam to it then tie wrapped it secure with skinny tie wraps (making sure to avoid the cam button but it does partly cover the small screen).

Now just plug it in to the connector of the cable we trimmed and soldered earlier.

Step 14: Update Your Firmware...

Step 15: Configure ESCs Using BLHeliSuite...

Time to configure your escs so they are all synced together and know their high,middle and low points...

Step 16: Configure Cleanflight / Betaflight...

Its now time to configure your flight controller, it has lots of options (an instructable all of its own) and this is where you make your quadcopter truly yours!

Im not going to go through every step to configure your flight controller but this is how i configured my receiver...

Please note the FS-A8S has another step...

After step 15, press and hold the bind button for 2-3 seconds to put the receiver into ibus mode as it is set to sbus by default.The led will blink to confirm the change of mode.

Quick setup of the iR-A8S/FS-A8S.

To our configure our flight controller to talk to our receiver we have to change a few settings...

  1. Connect the micro usb cable to fc and pc
  2. Open betaflight
  3. Check your connection port and click connect
  4. click ports
  5. click the slider to enable serial rx on uart 3
  6. Hit "save and reboot"
  7. click configuration in the left hand pane
  8. scroll down to the receiver section
  9. drop the receiver modes tab down to serial based receiver
  10. in the serial receiver provider section use the drop down menu to select IBUS
  11. Hit "save and reboot"
  12. Hit disconnect
  13. Unplug your usb cable
  14. Turn your transmitter (controller) on
  15. Connect your battery to your flight controller
  16. Plug your usb cable back in
  17. Click connect
  18. click on the receiver tab on the left hand side
  19. move the sticks on the transmitter and check the everything moves as expectected
  20. done! has some great setup guides...



Step 17: Attach the Top and Bottom Decks...

Make sure you have finished configuring eveything because to get the usb cable in again you have to remove the topdeck.

Other than that just make sure your cam is pointing forwards and your battery connector points backwards and use the supplied screws to secure it into place.

Step 18: Attach the Propellers...

These propellers are marked 2030 and 2030R just make sure they are on the right motors and that they arnt hitting the support beams for the top deck.

Step 19: Put on Your Goggles, Turn on Your Transmitter and Fly!

Use the search button on your goggles to find the stream being broadcast from your cam, turn on your transmitter, plug your battery in and velcro it down and fly!

These are robust little critters and this one has taken a few collisons and been none the worse for wear but ive included links to spare parts just in case =)
