Hi my name is Dalton Bach. I’m sure many of you have had thoughts about what you might want for dinner or supper. Many of you may be looking for something quick, easy and most of all delicious. I’m going to show you a way to make a quick, filling, delicious meal to make your hunger go away. That meal will be a Quesadilla a popular food in the Mexican culture. In these next few steps I’m going to show you how to make one for yourself so that you can also experience the delicious taste of a Quesadilla.

Step 1: Selecting Ground Beef and Thawing

Grab a one pound chub of ground beef you will notice it has two numbers that show the percentage of lean and the percentage of fat in that ground beef chub. The higher end ground beef has a higher percentage of lean and less fat. I will be using a pound of ground beef that is 80% lean and 20% fat. Next what you want to do if you froze your pound of ground beef place it into the microwave on a microwave safe plate and defrost it your microwave will have a defrost button on it click that and put in 1.0 lb and your microwave will choose the amount of time that will defrost the frozen beef.

Step 2: Cooking Ground Beef

Grab thawed ground beef chub and remove the plastic that encases it and transfer it to a 10 Inch frying pan. Place the frying pan on the stove top and turn it to a medium heat and start breaking up the one pound chub of thawed beef with a wooden spatula or plastic spatula wooden preferably because it doesn’t bend making it easier to control. As you break down the ground beef make sure there are not any big chunks try to make the ground beef consistent in size when cooking. After a while you will notice the ground beef will start to turn brown when all ground beef is brown you will know the meat has been cooked thoroughly.

Step 3: Draining Fat

Shut stove top off grab a noodle strainer and place it over a bucket and dump ground beef into strainer this will drain the fat from the ground beef. Do not drain the fat into the sink the fat will harden up and cause pipes to clog.

Step 4: Adding Taco Seasoning

Put ground beef back in frying pan and turn the stove top on simmer and place frying pan on stove top. Next grab the taco seasoning packet and a measuring cup. Put one packet of taco seasoning directly on top of ground beef that is in the frying pan. Then add 3/4 cup of water to taco seasoning and ground beef and stir it together very well. In the meantime heat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 5: Assembling Quesadilla

Grab a pizza pan or a rectangular pan either works. Then grab 2 burrito flour tortillas and shredded Colby and Monterrey jack cheese. Grab one of the burrito flour tortillas and place it on the pizza pan then go over to your ground beef and spread an even amount on top of your tortilla. Then grab the cheese and cover the ground beef in cheese. Then take you other tortilla and place it on top.

Step 6: Final Preparations

Once your oven is preheated put in the pizza pan and watch it closely for about 10 minutes or until it gets a nice brown and white look on top. Then take it out place it on a plate and cut it into triangular pieces. Make a cut all the way down vertically in the middle and make a cut all the way over horizontally in the middle.

Step 7: Condiments

Add condiments to the quesadilla if you would like such as hot sauce or sour cream and then you are ready to eat this delicious quesadilla.
