Introduction: Bacon and Roasted Jalapeno Popper Spread (Mild or Spicy)
Spread this awesome snack on your favorite bagel, crackers, or tortilla.Jalapeno poppers are so tasty, but it can be a little time consuming to make a bunch of these for a delicious bite sized snack. So I decided to make it into a dip/spread so it can be enjoyed anytime. You could also take it work for an untraditional work snack.
This would also be a great treat at all of your parties. In fact when I made this, my 16 year old daughter was not really liking my idea, but when she tasted it she said "wow, that is really good, let's bring that to the next family party" ... "when is the next party?" lol . She doesnt like trying new things,so even though she loves jalapeno poppers she was skeptical, but she loves it now.
Step 1: What You Will Need
cream cheese - 8 oz (softened)
cheese 5 oz (grated)
5-6 jalapenos (if you want a mild snack be sure to take out the seeds)
6-10 pieces of bacon
chips or crackers of your choice ( I chose the Big Cheeze Its)
tortillas or bagels would be really good too
large heart shaped cookie cutter (optional)
Step 2: Cook the Bacon and Roast the Jalapenos
To cook the bacon I put it on a foil lined cookie sheet, put it in the oven THEN turn the oven on to 400 degrees and walk away. Come back and check on it in about 15 min. depending on your oven and the thickness of your bacon will determine the cooking time, remember as the bacon gets close to being done it can burn at the blink of an eye.So once it gets close to being done keep a very watchful eye on it.
As you can see i took out my bacon a little early because i can always put it in the microwave for 30 second plus at a time to get it to my preference .
Now just put the jalapenos on the greasy bacon pan and bring the oven back down to 350 degrees. Bake them for about 15 min. and flip them over about half way through.
Step 3: Almost Snack Time
Let the bacon and jalapenos cool, then dice them up. Add to the softened cream cheese and add the shredded cheese. Mix well.Spray your large cookie cutter with pam spray to ensure the shaped dip comes out nicely. Use the spoon to pack the mixture into the cutter. put in freezer for 10 min. and then gently lift the cutter off to reveal your cute heart shaped snack dip. Keep refrigerated til ready to eat. Once you take it out it wont take long for it to disappear.
Spread it on your favorite bagel, cracker, or tortilla.

I love this, and I mean it.
A friend of mine brought some jalapenos from Mexico and they were so spicy but even with that, I enjoyed the popper spread. Sublime. Thanks danlynne07
