Introduction: Band Uniform Sizing Guide

Welcome to this guide! To correctly size a person for a uniform you will need a flexible measuring tape and an electronic device (Chromebook, iPad, etc.) to input the sizes into the Google Sheet. For this process, we will provide both of these items for you. This works best with two people; one to do the measurements and one to input them into the document. DO NOT try to measure yourself, the readings will be inaccurate and will result in receiving a uniform that fits poorly.

Step 1: Setting Up Google Slides

Head to your drive and make sure you have access to the file "AHS Band Uniform Sizes." The link has been shared with your school email. If you do not see it, please let one of the directors know ASAP. Open the document and type the name of the student who you are sizing under the column that says "NAME". Format it as: "Last, First"

Step 2: Take Head Measurement

Place the measuring tape around the head, making sure it is above the ears and eyebrows.

Step 3: Input Head Measurement

Input the student's head size (inches) under the column that says "HEAD".

Step 4: Take Chest Measurement

Student's arms should be relaxed at their sides. Measure around the fullest area of the chest, under the arms, keeping the tape parallel to the ground.

Step 5: Input Chest Measurement

Input the student's chest size (inches) under the column that says "CHEST".

Step 6: Take Back Measurement

Measure from the middle of the neck to the natural waist line.

Step 7: Input Back Measurement

Input the student's back size (inches) under the column that says "BACK".

Step 8: Take Waist Measurement

Wrap the measuring tape around the narrowest area of the waist, above the belly button.

Step 9: Input Waist Measurement

Input the student's waist size (inches) under the column that says "WAIST".

Step 10: Take Hip Measurement

Have the student stand with heels together. Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of the hips.

Step 11: Input Hip Measurement

Input the student's hip size (inches) under the column that says "HIP".

Step 12: Take Outseam Measurement

Have the student you are measuring hold the tape at the highest point of the outer thigh. Measure along the outside of the leg, from the highest point of the inner thigh to just below the ankle bone.

Step 13: Input Outseam Measurement

Input the student's outseam size (in inches) under the column that says "OUTSEAM".

Step 14: Shoe Size (optional)

Have the student try on one of the sizer shoes if they do not already have a pair of band shoes or if they need a different size.

Step 15: Input Shoe Size (optional)

Input the student's shoe size under the column that says "SHOES".

Step 16: Final Check

Make sure that you have a entered a measurement for all of the categories: Head, Chest, Back, Waist, Hip, and Outseam, (and Shoes if applicable).
