Introduction: Bay Leaf Tea

This is a recipe for a nice warm milky drink that my family affectionately calls "bay leaf tea". and while it's not the usual way one would make a brew, I think it's a great alternative for when hot chocolate just isn't hitting the spot, especially in the colder months.

Supplies

For this simple recipe you'll need,

equipment:

  • a small mug
  • a saucepan
  • a jug
  • a teaspoon

Ingredients:

  • 250ml milk (1 cup)
  • 2 or more bay leaves
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar\honey

(oops, ignore the ginger).

Step 1: Preparation

Measure out 250mls of milk with a jug, then pour it into your saucepan and heat gently at low temperature until decently steamy. Then add two bay leaves or more (depending on their size) and leave to sit for 2-4 minutes. Make sure not to let it boil, skin will form on the surface of the milk if it does.

If you want to make more then one cup, simply double the ingredients in to the saucepan before heating

Step 2: Serve

Add 2 teaspoons of honey or sugar (your preference) into a small mug, then pour the milk in, give it a stir and voila, it's finished and ready to be enjoyed.
